Our Program
Our nature-inspired Montessori program offers children a balanced and holistic experience.
On a daily basis children engage in a classic Montessori work-cycle, combined with nature-based units of study. Through this carefully prepared curriculum, we scaffold each child’s academic journey, while expanding their connection to the natural world and wider communities.
At Roots, we believe that a strong sense of connection between the child and their caregivers is fundamental in helping them thrive in school environments. We guide through an emotionally-responsive practice, holding space for all different feelings, with respect and skill.
Our Montessori curriculum includes all classic areas of Practical Life, Language, Sensorial, Math, and Cultural Studies.
Art, music, movement, cooking, breathwork, and mindfulness are an integral part of the program as well!
Toddler Program
18 months - 3 Years
Our Toddler Program is a vibrant environment where young children embark on a journey of self-discovery and social exploration.
Through a consistent routine children grasp a sense of safety and connection, allowing them to explore the classroom offerings freely.
Our Toddlers explore Practical Life, Sensorial, pre-literacy, and beginning Math. In addition, our classrooms offer daily art experiences, music, play, mindfulness practices, and time outdoors.
Our Toddler program is an exciting place where young children discover their own independence and self care abilities.
Primary Program
3 - 6 years
In our Primary Program children learn, explore, socialize and play in a carefully prepared environment tailored to meet their needs and interests.
Our mornings are filled with the gentle buzz of children at work. Whether they're focused on individual lessons, lending a hand to a friend, working one on one with their teacher, or collaborating in small groups, there's a harmonious energy that fills the space.
Throughout the day children take ownership of their classroom by watering plants, cleaning up spills, and embellishing the room with flower arrangements.
Children navigate all curriculum areas of the classroom, both independently and by teacher invitations.
Many days our work-time will extend to the outdoor area, where children enjoy fresh air and sunlight while working or participating in group projects.

Montessori Curriculum
Roots Montessori is a traditional Montessori school, following the classic Montessori curriculum. We have trained AMS/AMI teachers and are committed to offering high quality Montessori education combined with best modern early childhood practices.
Nature-inspired Curriculum
An integral part of our program is to guide children towards an awareness of interconnectedness, and respect for mother nature. To enrich and complement our program, we inspire our Montessori curriculum with nature-based units of study. Throughout the school year we learn about and explore different subjects in depth. Children will learn and experience their indoor and outdoor classroom while exploring themes such as sustainability, appreciation for the beauty in nature, life cycles, animals, and world known environmentalists and conservationists such as Jane Goodall, Wangari Maathai, Ocean Ramsey, and John Muir . The depth of our studies are guided by the children’s interests.
On a daily basis children will explore our backyard, buzzing with life! Our garden has planted all native species, and hidden between their leaves children will find caterpillars, chrysalis, ladybugs, snails and other creature friends. As a part of our curriculum we will grow our own vegetables, guided by our gardening teacher.
In addition, children take care of their classroom plants and pets, and practice flower arranging as a part of their classic Practical Life curriculum.
